DRAFTING OF PRINCESS LINE KURTA
A Princess line or princess line dress describes a women’s fitted dress or other garment cut in long panels without a horizontal join or separation at wait.
Basic kurta pattern with waist line darts
Observe the straight grain line. Grain line is the direction of the yarn in the fabric. The long grain line that runs lengthwise (parallel to selvage) is called as the straight grain.
- First of all, the grain lines are marked in the two sides of the burst point. The two grain lines drawn are parallel to each other.
- Then, a smooth curve from the burst point to the deepest part in the armhole is marked.
- Finally, cutting is done along the dart sides towards the armhole. We get two princesses line parts: centre part and side part.
- 1cm seam allowances are added to the princess seam and a smooth shape is given before cutting the fabric.
